Does anybody know where I could find some plans to build a winch?

Don't bother with that home brew business. By the time you get everything built and figured out, you won't be saving that much money. Then you have to fix it, because it's not going to work right. If you ever plan on using it, you need to buy one. Trust me.

I have ridden behind and driven many different brands of real winches and home brews, a real winch is the way to go.

I know you are thinking about the grinch. I will tell you this. It's mad heavy, and has not changed design in over 5 years.

All of the new innovations are coming from Pulldozer Winch Systems. Motor to power ratio, brakes, free spool, lighter frame design, you name it, he came up with it, and does it. They are built by riders for riders. He is actually the guy who built the original winches, the black box, hypoxic, many years ago, in which all winches of today are based off. He is a custom motorcycle builder, so he knows a thing or two about what he is doing. The big kicker is, his price is one, if not the best around. He also custom builds all of his winches. Whatever you want, he can do.
